Well I guess I ought to apologise for not doing an update yesterday as promised.
No excuse other than being completely swamped by the real world that has been waiting impatiently for my return. A months work with interest is quite consuming, particularly when there are a couple of key deadlines - you got it, I had to get my VAT out the door along with a couple of other pressing matters. Not least flights needing to be booked to Paris and Valencia for next week.
In the middle of all this the phone rang and it was QAB Marina asking me when I was going to move the boat and I am ashamed to say that I had completely forgotten her. She was meant to be moved on Tuesday and was still there on Wednesday morning and they were tight for space. Mayflower International Marina has come to the rescue and I will move her later today.
In a funny way it feels like the Round Britain never happened as Paul and I spin off into other orbs of life and try to pick up spinning plates that have become a bit wobbly with time. It's always like this after a trip away as one tries to step from one mind set into another, often a bit tired from a month of competition.
Having said that I had a look at some of the pictures we took during the race and it all came flooding back. This last one was a great project and as with all of them it had many facets to it. One thing I am looking forward too is visiting the Cornwall Playing for Success kids to give them a talk on the trip.
On a random note we took the dog for a walk last night and had a drink on the way through Kingsand only to be accosted by a lady who knows a good friend of ours. It turns out that in the real world she reads the shipping forecast on radio four. How random is that, I have listened to her voice for years now and always wondered at the person behind the voice and wasn't disappointed by this open and friendly character.
The last time we sailed past Start Point in the picture we were on our delivery to the start of the race and Paul commented that the next time see that we will have an adventure behind us and how right he was - the face says it all.

Hi All,
Blog time - well, not quite as it's our anniversary today and we are making the most of it.
Particularly so as it's my first day off for a good few months thanks to the North Pole and Round Britain being back to back.
I will put up a daily dit as of tomorrow on the last leg and a few other thoughts that drift through what at the moment is a rather vacant head.
I had to catch a train to speak at the London Business School at 0500 hrs yesterday and then do some work for Rolls Royce in Bristol on the way home which meant I didn't get back until 0200 hrs this morning. A long but good day - it's good to have a life full of variety.
Couldn't resist the picture; Peter, Paul and Mary with Smeaton's Tower in the background. We did it and did it well, which basically means we had a ball and stayed the right way up.
On on until tomorrow.
Cheers Pete

The Ebay auction closed today, with the succesful bidder giving £895 to Cornwall Playing for Success in return for a sail with Pete aboard the SeaCart30. The winner, who has asked not to be named, said, "I have followed Pete's career for some time and been watching this latest adventure closely. The chance to sail with him on the SeaCart and support such a worthy cause was too good an opportunity to miss." Thanks to him for his kind words and support.

I thought you might like to see this fantastic picture of the guys crossing the finishing line, courtesy of Jason Phillips, who kindly sent this to me this evening. Great pic that sums up the finish for me. Cheers, Stu.
