MAY
DEVON COUNTY SHOW Thursday 15 Friday 16 and Saturday 17 - If you are attending the show, come and visit our trade stand where you will be one of the first to have the opportunity of purchasing Spirit of Mystery merchandise. We are situated in front of the large Flower and Garden marquee close to the yellow gate entrance, stand number 367 avenue R.
Cornwall Playing for Success - Cornwall Playing for Success is an organisation set up to provide motivational and educational activity courses for school children across Cornwall. Children involved in the scheme will visit the boat and learn about the story behind it.
Testing the Winds - the work boat is launched.
JUNE
The Debut - Early June, Spirit of Mystery will be pulled from the build shed for the first time and be made ready for sea.
Launch – The official launch of Spirit of Mystery is planned for Saturday 21 June in Milbrook. The launch will be at 7pm for high tide.
Commemorative Medallions – Details of the medallions will be released and officially launched. A real Cornish tribute!
AUGUST
Back Home – Spirit of Mystery is back at its ‘spiritual birth place’ on 25 August, as Pete Goss opens the Newlyn Fish Festival and introduces Spirit of Mystery to Newlyn.
Naming Ceremony – The official naming of Spirit of Mystery will take place on the 9/10 August at Cotehele house (to be confirmed).
SEPTEMBER
Southampton Boat Show - 12 September - Spirit of Mystery at the Southampton Boat Show press day.
Education – From the 15 until the 27 September - The Spirit of Mystery is part of an education programme based at the National Maritime Museum, Falmouth. Around 180 children will jump onboard the boat each day, learning about local, maritime, food, navigation and boat-building history.
OCTOBER
Falmouth Oyster Festival - 16 - 19 – The Spirit of Mystery will be on show at the well loved Falmouth festival.
National Interest – Possible filming of ‘Three Men in a Boat’ with Dara O’Brian, Griff Rhys-Jones and Rory McGrath. Look out for Pete!
Set Sail! – late October. The journey begins!
DECEMBER
Cape Town – Pete hopes to arrive in Cape Town in late December, after two months at sea.
Off again! – After a brief Christmas break, Pete and crew will set sail for Australia in early January 2009.
Planned date for arrival – Mid March 2009.
